Aloo Bonda or Potato Bonda Recipe is basically a deep fried Indian snack made with Boled Potatoes, Gram Flour and Spices. They are the crispy and popular fried fritters, different from aloo wada.
Aloo Bonda Recipe is the south Indian version of the popular maharashtrian batata vada. Here the difference is that in batata wada, we don’t use rice flour and we coat the mixture of potatoes in gram flour batter. But for making this aloo bonda, we do add some rice flour and in stead of coating the potato balls in gram flour batter, we are mixing gram flour with potatoes.
To know the more difference in making Batata Vada and Aloo Bonda, you can go to my Vada Pav Recipe and Batata Vada Recipe. Indian regional cuisine is rich with variety of popular snacks. In North India Samosa, Kachori, Aloo tikki chole, Dahi vada etc are quite popular. whereas in South India Idli, Dosa, Medu vada, etc are very popular.
Aloo Bonda can be served with Coriander Chutney or even with Coconut Chutney. I generally like to serve it as a Tea Time Snack Dish for my family. You can also make a no onion no garlic version, just skip the onion and ginger from this bonda recipe.
