Ingredients:

  • 500 gms mutton cubes
  • 4 big onions thinly chopped
  • 4 tomatoes pureed
  • 1 tbsp garlic paste
  • 4 green chillies paste
  • 2 tbsp yogurt
  • 1 inch ginger chopped
  • 1 tsp red chilli powder
  • 2 tsp coriander powder
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp garam masala powder
  • 2 cups coconut milk
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 1/2 tsp cumin seeds
  • 1 tsp vinegar
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil
  • Salt to taste

Goan Mutton Curry Recipe

Goan Mutton Curry Recipe is made with fresh goat meat that consists the flavor of coconut milk, curd and rich spices. It taste good with Roti (Indian Bread)

Ingredients

  • 500 gms mutton cubes
  • 4 big onions thinly chopped
  • 4 tomatoes pureed
  • 1 tbsp garlic paste
  • 4 green chillies paste
  • 2 tbsp yogurt
  • 1 inch ginger chopped
  • 1 tsp red chilli powder
  • 2 tsp coriander powder
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp garam masala powder
  • 2 cups coconut milk
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 1/2 tsp cumin seeds
  • 1 tsp vinegar
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil
  • Salt to taste

Instructions

  1. Wash and clean the mutton thoroughly in normal running water.
  2. Combine the yogurt, salt, red chilli powder, turmeric powder, garlic paste and coconut paste.
  3. Add the cubes of mutton in this mixture and keep aside for 2-3 hours.
  4. Heat the pan and add oil.
  5. Add bay leaf and cumin seeds. Saute for few seconds.
  6. Add ginger and green chillies. Saute and add onion.
  7. Stir fry the onion for couple of minutes and add puree of tomatoes.
  8. Mix well, add salt, coriander powder, garam masala powder and vinegar.
  9. Add the marinated mutton and mix well.
  10. Cover the pan and leave to cook for 10 minutes on low flame.
  11. Uncover and add coconut milk. Higher the flame for 2 minutes.
  12. Adjust with the salt and red chilli powder.
  13. Fry continuously until mutton starts turning into brownish red in color.
  14. Again lower the flame and cover the pan.
  15. Bring the mixture to few boils and cook until mutton is tender.
  16. Serve hot with roti or steamed rice.

Notes

Stir continuously at the time of adding mutton, in this way the meat will start turning into nice color.

Chef Tips:

  1. Vinegar can be substituted with the lemon juice.
