Ingredients:
- 1 cupĀ split green gram lentil (moong ki dhuli dal)
- 1 cup masoor dal
- 1 cup arhar dal
- 1 cup urad ki dhuli dal
- 1 cup horse beans (chane ki dal)
- A pinch of asafoetida
- 1-1/2 tsp cumin seeds
- 3-4 green chillies finely chopped
- 1 tsp grated ginger
- 1/2 tsp red chilli power
- 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
- 1 tsp garam masala powder
- 1/2 tsp coriander powder
- 1/2 tsp lemon juice
- Salt to taste
- 2 tbsp oil / ghee
- Handful coriander leaves finely chopped
How to make Panchmel Dal:
- Wash all the lentils very well in water and mix them in a big bowl.
- Soak them in a good amount of water for about an hour.
- Boil the soaked dal with salt until turns soft.
- Heat a pan and add oil.
- When the oil is hot enough then add cumin seeds.
- Allow the seeds to crackle and now add asafoetida.
- Mix the boiled dal and add salt with remaining ingredients.
- Cook on medium high flame for 5-6 minutes.
- Finally garnish dal with good amount of chopped coriander leaves.
- Serve hot with rice or roti / chapati.
