Manchmel Dal Recipe is the unique combination of several tasty Indian lentils. It is one of the most famous Punjabi dal that can easily goes with rice or roti. I have used Chana dal, masoor dal, moong dal and urad dal for making such a delicious Indian dal dish just for you.

Ingredients:
- 1 cup Yellow Split Peas (channa dal)
- 1 cup Yellow Mung Beans (moong dal)
- 1 cup White Gram Beans (urad dal)
- 1 cup Red Lentils (masar dal)
- 8 cloves garlic minced
- 1-1/2 inch ginger finely chopped
- 1 big onion thinly chopped
- 4 tomatoes chopped
- 1-1/2 tsp cumin seeds
- 4-5 green chillies finely chopped
- 1/2 tsp red chilli powder
- 1/2 tsp Cayenne Pepper
- 3/4 tsp turmeric powder
- 3 tsp cooking oil
- Fresh coriander leaves chopped
- Salt to taste
How to make Manchmel Dal :
- Clean all the lentils thoroughly in several changes of water.
- Place them in a deep pot / vessel with 6 cups of water, salt and half of turmeric powder.
- Bring the water to few boils and stir often to prevent the beans from sticking to the bottom of the pan or lumping together.
- Cook over medium heat, partially covered, for about 15 minutes.
- Simmer the flame and keep dal on low heat until you make the seasoning.
- Heat the oil in a big pan and saute the cumin seeds.
- Later fry the onion with cumin seeds until translucent.
- When the onions seems cooked, add ginger, garlic and green chillies.
- Saute altogether for few more minutes and then add tomatoes.
- Stir the mixture often by shaking the pan, until it looks slightly browned.
- After few stirring, add remaining ingredients and cook over moderate heat.
- Pour the prepared mixture into dal and stir very gently to mix.
- Garnish with good amount of chopped coriander and serve hot.
